revoke the power of the said Peter P. Monfort and of the Said William
Woodhull to act as advisors to my said Executors as aforesaid.
     AND WHEREAS in and by my last WILL and TESTAMENT
I have made constituted and appointed my sons John Henry Brush, and
Charles Worzter Brush both of the City, County, and State of New York
Executors of my last WILL and TESTAMENT I hereby also make,
constitute, and appoint my Son in law Eugene Van Ness of the United
States, Army, at present residing in the Town of New Burgh, County of
Orange and State of New York, Executor of my last WILL and
TESTAMENT in addition to my Sons appointed as aforesaid.
     AND I do hereby order and declare that my will is that my
two Slaves, George and Legarda, residing in Town of Palatka, East
Florida, Shall have their freedom at the expiration of the term of five
year from the date of this codicil, provided that during the said period,
they prove to be good and faithful Slaves, otherwise to remain in bondage
at the discretion of my said Executors, AND I do hereby also order and
declare that is my will that Eve, Sarah, Antonia and Francis Children
of my Said Slaves George and Legarda, all of the Town of Palatka as
aforesaid and all others they may have at the expiration of the term of
five years as aforesaid, Shall each of them have their freedom, as they
respectively attain the age of forty years, AND I do hereby also order and
declare, that it is my will that my Share of the bank Stock now invested
in the Vestry street Methodist Church in the City, County and State of
New York, be transferred to the Methodist Church in the Town of Cor-
mac County of Suffolk Long Island for the maintenance and
Support of said Church only. AND lastly it is my desire that this
my present Codicil be annexed to, and made a part of my last
WILL and TESTAMENT to all intents and purposes.
     IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my
hand and Seal, this thirty first day of August in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three

The above and foregoing instrument at the date thereof, was declared
to each of us, by the said Nehemiah Brush, to be a Codicil to be annexed
to his last WILL AND TESTAMENT, and he acknowledged to each
of us that he had executed the same, and we at his request have signed
our names hereto as attesting witnesses, and written opposite our names our
respective places of residence
