This Indenture made and entered into this sixth day
of Februdary in the yar One thousand Eight Hundred and fifty
Between John H. Lewis and his wife Mary F. Lewis of the county
of Mdison and State of Alabama of the one part and 
Matthew Chesser of the County of Alachua and State of Florida of the
Other part   witnesseth that the said John H. Lewis and
his wife Mary F.  have this day in consideration of four hundred
dollars to them in hand paid at the         and delivering of
these presents by the said Matthew Chesser the receipt of which
they do hereby acknowledge given granted bargained and sold
unto the said Chesser that portions of land lying in the county
Alachua aforesaid and known as section twenty three
Town ship nine & range nineteen in the survey of the Arrendondo
Grant.  To have and to hold the premises thus granted with
all the appurtenances in any wise belonging thereunto to him the
said Chesser and his heirs forever, and the said John H. Lewis
& Mary F. do hereby covenant to and with the said Matthew
Chesser his heirs & that they will forever warrant and defend
the title hereby conveyed against the lawful claim of all every
person claiming by through or under them the said John 
H. and Mary F. ***** the said Chessers his heirs and
assigns forever. 
                In testimony whereof they have
hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first
above written.

                        This day personally appeared
before me Edward C. Betts Judge of the County Court of said county
which is a court of record, John H. Lewis who resides in
the county aforesaid and is personally known to me and acknow
ledged the signing sealing and delivering of the foregoing deed and
at the same time and place to wit in the county aforesaid the
said Mary, wif of the said John H. Lewis who is also known
to me, who being examined seperate and apart from her said
husband John H. Lewis who acknowledged that she executed the
foregoing deed freely and without any fear or compulsion
of her husband the said John H. Lewis.
          In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seal this 6th day of February 1850.
