This Indenture made this the ninth day of May A. D. 1850, 
between Jonathan Turner & Maryann Turner, his wife of Alachua County 
Florida. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part being indebted 
                                                partys of the 2d part
to Thomas Foleston & William Bloodgood of the City of New York, for 
the purchase money of Sec 30 T9 P19 of the Arredondo Grant and in 
order to secure a part of the purchase of the same do hereby in consideration 
of the Sum of Four Hundred Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt 
Whereof is hereby acknowledged grant bargain & sell unto the said 
Thomas Fileston & William Bloodgood parties of the second part their 
heirs and assigns, a certain negro male slave named Peter aged 
about ten years now being on the plantation of said Jonathon 
Turner-to have and to hold to said parties of the second 
part forever, Provided never the less and these presents are upon 
this express condition that if the said Jonathon Turner & his 
May Ann Turner her either of them or their heirs a legal 
shall well & truly pay or came to be paid to the said parties 
of the second part the sum of Four Hundred Dollars, upon the 
first day of January 1851 with interest, then this conveyance
shall be void and of no effect.

George R. Fairbanks, one of the subscribing witnesses to the 
within indenture of Mortgage & being duly sworn says that the 
said Jonathon Turner and Mary Ann Turner, signed and executed 
the witten instrument in his presents and that of Elizabeth Martin 
the other subscribing witness for the purpose therein set forth.
