This Indenture made and entered into on this twenty
fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and fifty between John H. Lewis and his wife
Mary M. of the County of Madison and State of Alabama
of the first part and William Colson of the County of Alachua
and State of Florida of the second part, Witnesseth the
said John H. Lewis and Mary M. have in consideration
of the sum of Four Hundred and Fifty Nine 68/100 Dollars
to them paid at the ensealing and delivery of these
presents, the receipt of which they hereby acknowledge
have this day bargained and sold and by these presents
to bargain and sell to the said William Colson all that
parcel of land lying in the County of Alachua
State of Florida known and designated on the Map
of the Arredondo Grant a fractional Section Number
Twenty Seven, Township Ten and Range Nineteen containing
by estimate Five Hundred and Thirty 40/100 acres, more or less
the same being this year granted to one Neal Rain, to have
and to hold the same withnit's appurtenances to him
the said William Colson, his heirs and assigns forever
and we do hereby warrant and will forever defend the
title hereby conveyed against the lawful claims of all
and every person or persons claiming by through or
under in, In testimony whereof we have here
unto set our hands and seals this the day and

Madison County ss } This day John H. Lewis whose name is
as signed to the foregoing Deed and who is personally well known
to me, John W. Otey Judge of the Probate Court of the County afore
said and as such Clerk of said Court which is a Court of
record and acknowledged that he had signed, sealed and delivered
the foregoing Deed to William Colson on the day and year therein mentioned.
I also on the same day exhibited said deed to Mary M. Lewis wife
of the said John H. Lewis who being examined by me privately
separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that
she had signed sealed and delivered said Deed to
Said William Colson On the day of the date thereof freely, volun
tarily and without any fear, threat or compulsion of her said
husband. |
