This Indenture made This Twenty first day of Decem
ber in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred
and forty nine between James T. Thomas of the county
of Alachua and state of Florida of the first part and William J.
Turner of the said county of Alachua and State of Florida
of the second part. Witnesseth That the said James J. Thomas
for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty
dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing
and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged by and from the said William J.
Turner hath this day granted bargained sold
transfered and conveyed and by these presents doth
grant bargain sell transfer and convey unto him
the said William J. Turner his heirs or assigns a
certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and
being in Alachua County, Florida. Known and described
as follows to wit commencing at a post at the north
west corner of what is known as lot Number Ten of
a tract of Twenty thousand acres of land conferred
to Moses E. Levy by decree of the Supreme Court of the
United States and running South (magnet) in the cha-
chal pond forty chains. Thence East (magnet) one
hundred and forty four chains to the center line ru-
nning East and West through the said Twenty Tho-
usand acre tract. Thence West along said center
line one hundred and forty four chains and sixteen
links to the point of beginning forming a paralellogram
of one hundred and forty four chains and sixteen links
East & West (magnet) by forty chains North by forty chains
South (magnet) containing by estimation Five hundred
and seventy six acres. Which said tract or parcel of
Land was conveyed to the said James T. Thomas by Moses
E. Levy in his own behalf and as the attorney in fact
of Serafena Cheaunteau of Paris France and Joseph
DeLevante of London England by certain indenture
or deed bearing date the Twenty sixth day of March
one thousand eight hundred and forty nine. To Have
and To Hold the said above named and described
tract or parcel of land together with all and singular the
right members and appartenances thereof or to the same
in any manner appertaining or belonging unto him the
said William J. Turner his heirs or assigns in fee
simple forever.
