This indenture made this eighth day of June Eighteen hundred & forty
Seven between Augustus Steel of Cedar Key and Archibald Cole
of Florida, Witnesseth that whereas the said party of the first
part is justly indebted to the said party of the second part in the
Sum of Two thousand dollars which Said Sum is imbraces in two 
notes of hand bearing date June 8th 1847 the one payable on the 15th
day of September 1847 the other payable on the 15th January 1848
Now this indenture witnesseth that the party of the first part for the
better Security of the payment of said notes due as aforesaid, before & in
consideration of the Sum of one dollar to him the party of the second
part in hand paid paid before sealing & delivering of these presents the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained sole
released & conveyed, & by these presents doth grant bargain release &
convey unto Archibald H. Cole of the second part a certain lot of ground
situated on the Island of Cedar Key facing the wharf & exactly in front
of the same hitherto occupied by Cole Richards & Co. and warehouse
together with the said ware house standing therein & also the house & lot
known as the mannor & used as a Hotel with the appurtenances to each
belonging, To have & to hold the said ware house & Hotel & the lots on
which they stand unto this said party of the second part his heirs
executors & administrators.
The condition of this instrument is that if the said Augustus Steel
of the first part shall well & truly pay unto Archibald H. Cole of the
Second part the sum of two thousand dollars when due agreeable to the
time of the foresaid notes, then this indenture to be null & of no affect
otherwise to remain in full force & virtue

Alachua County      Clerk of the Circuit Court for the Counties of
Alachua & Levy, E.H. Richards who being duly sworn says that he saw
Augustus Steel sign the above instrument of writing for the
purposes therein expressed and that he signed the same in presence of the 
other subscribing witness
