Know all men by these presents that I Light Townsend of
Alachua County Florida for and in Consideration of the natural
love and affections which I have unto my daughter Elizabeth
Brown wife of William T. Brown of Benton County Florida, have
given and delivered, and by these presents do give and deliver
unto the said Elizabeth Brown the following Slaves to wit; Char-
lotte a negro woman about 28 years, and her children George a
Boy age about 14 years Sam a Boy age about 12 years, Eliza a
girl age about 10 years, Dick a Boy age about 8 years, Rose a
girl age about 3 years, and also one age and name not known.
Together with all the future issue and increase of Said Slaves,
to have and to hold the Said Slaves with their future issue and
increase unto the Sole and Separate use of Said Elizabeth Brown,
free from the Control, interference disposal or debts of the
said William T. Brown her husband for and during the term of the
natural life of her the said Elizabeth Brown, and at her death I
do hereby give the remainder in said Slaves and their future
issue and increase and the same Shall of to the Child or child-
ren of the Said Elizabeth Brown living at the time of her death
to be divided equally among Said Children, if there be more than
one child Share and Share alike, to have and to hold the Said
interest in remainder unto Said Child or Children, and with his
her or their Executor or Executors, administrator or administra-
tors assign or assigns, for ever in witness whereof I have here-
unto signed my name and affixed my seal this 16th day of August
1848

Alachua County Personally appeared before me the under-
signed a Justice of the Peace in and for said County Thos.C.
Ellis whose name appears to the foregoing Instrument of writing
and made oath that he was a Subscribing witness thereto and saw
the above named Light Townsend Execute and deliver the same
Sworn to and subscribed before me this 16th day of August AD
