Know all men by these presents that I Light Townsend of 
Alachua County Florida for and in consideration of the natural
love and affections which I have unto my Daughter Sarah Ann
Ellis, wife of Thomas C. Ellis, of Said County have given and de-
livered and by these presents do give and deliver unto the said
Sarah Ann Ellis, the following Slaves to wit; Ann a woman age
about twenty five years, and  Child Albert age about two years
also Eliza a negro woman and her children, Jane age about two 
years, and Mary age about one year, together with all the 
future issue and increase of said Slaves~ To have and to hold 
said Slaves with their future issue and increase unto the Sole
and Separate use of her the Said Sarah Ann Ellis free from the
control interference disposal or debts of the said Thomas C.
Ellis her husband for and during the term of the natural life of
her the Said Sarah Ann Ellis, and at her death I do hereby give 
the remainderin Said Slaves, and their future issue and increase
and the Same Shall go to the child or Children of the said Sarah
Ann Ellis living at the time of her death, to be divided equally
among Said  Children if there be more than one Child, Share
and Share alike, to have and to hold Said interest in remainder 
unto the said Child or Children and unto his her or their Ex-
ecutor or Executors, administrator or administrators, assign or
assigns forever.
In witness whereof I have hereunto Signed my name and affixed my
Seal this 16th day of August AD 1848
