Know all men by these presents that I
Mathew Cheshire of the County and State aforesaid for and
in consideration of the Sum of five dollars to me in hand paid
by William A. Osteen, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowleged
as well as divers other good and valuable consideerations
me thereunto moving, have granted, aliened, enfeoffed and
conveyed, and do hereby grant, alien, enfeoff, and convey,
unto the Said William A. Osteen, his heirs and
assigns, in the manner and for the trust hereinafter
Stated, all my reversionary in and to three certain negro
Slaves to wit; Susan a woman and Henry and Hilliard
her sons, Together with the future increase of the Said Susan
To have and to hold to the Said William A. Osteen his heirs
and assigns in trust as follows viz; in trust and for the
exclusive use and benefit of Joseph Miles Osteen, Son of
the Said William A. Osteen and his wife Caroline Osteen,
and the future issue Sons and Daughters or either of
the said William A. Osteen, or the body of his said wife
Caroline Osteen hereafter to be begotten, either born in
the life time of the Said William A. Osteen or in due time
after his decease, to be divided Equally between them.
And I do hereby covenant with the Said William A. Osteen
his heirs and assigns, that I warrant and defend the
Said Slaves unto him and them in manner before mentioned
against the lawful claims, of all persons claiming by or
under me. In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my
hand and Seal this twelfth day of December in the year of
our lord one thousand, Eight hundred and forty Eight
