         The State of Florida }
         Alachua County       } To all whom these presents Shall
         come, I James W. Earle of the County and State aforesaid,
         Send Greeting, Whereas, I the Said James W. Earle by my
         certain note under Seal bearing date the ninth day of November
         A.D. 1854, am indebted to Elizabeth H. Earle in the Sum of thirty
         Eight hundred and twenty one Dollars and eighty eight cents, with
         interest from date and due twelve months after date. Now
         know Ye, That I the Said James W. Earle for the better
         Securing the payment of the Said Sum of Thirty eight
         hundred and twenty one Dollars and eighty eight cents, unto
         the Said Elizabeth H. Earle, her heirs, Executors, administrators
         or assigns, together with lawful interest for the Same, have
         bargained and Sold, and by these presents do bargain and Sell,
        {and in plain and open market, deliver unto the Said Elizabeth
        {H. Earle, the following Slaves, to wit: Clarisa and her three
        {Children (vis) Louisa, Henrietta and Ellen, Sophy and her three
Slaves  {children (vis) Green, William and Moria, Charity and her two children
        {(vis) Ann & Furman,) Peter & Henry ~ To have and to hold
         the Said Slaves above named, unto the Said Elizabeth H. Earle, her
         Executors, Administrators and assigns, for ever, provided always
         nevertheless, That if the Said James W. Earle, his heirs, Executors,
         or administrators, Shall, and do well and truly pay, or cause to be
         paid unto the Said Elizabeth H. Earle, her certain Attorney, Executors,
         or assigns, the full and just Sum of thirty Eight hundred and
         twenty one dollars and eighty eight cents, according to the true
         meaning of Said note, and of these presents, together with lawful
         interest upon the Said Sum of money, from the date before men=
         =tioned then this Deed of bargain and sale, and all and every
         clause, article, and thing therein contained Shall cease, determine,
         and be utterly void and of none effect, anything herein contained
         to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding, And it is
         hereby declared by and between the Said parties and the Said James
         W. Earle, his Executors, Administrators and assigns, do covenant
         promise and agee agree to and with the said Elizabeth H. Earle,
         he Executors Administrators and assigns, by these presents, that
         if default shall happen to be made of or in payment of
         the said Sum of money as aforesaid, according to the true
         meaning and intent of the said note, that then and in 
         such case, it shall and may be lawful to and for the said
         Elizabeth H. Earle, her Executors, Administrators, attornies or
         agents from time to time and at all times hereafter
         peaceably and quietly to enter into any or all the
