and thirty six Dollars to be paid on or before the first of January
Eighteen hundred and fifty six, until the said sums of money is paid
Know all men by these presents, that I the said Samuel
R. Johnson as well for the better securing of the payment of 
the said sums of money if the said promissory notes specified as
well for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars to him in hand
paid by the said Simeon Sikes at and before the sealing and
delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby ackno
=wledged hath granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and doth
by these presents grant, bargain, sell and convey, unto the said
Simeon Sikes, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel
of land known in the plan of said county of Alachua
and State of Florida, as the North West quarter of Section
(26) twenty six, in Township (8) Eight, South of
Range (18) Eighteen East, also Lot No. (4) four of Section
(26) twenty six Township and Range as aforesaid, containing in all
(235) Two hundred and thirty five acres, more or less, and to
have and to hold the aforesaid land to the said Simeon Sikes his
heirs and assigns for ever to his and their only proper use bene
benefit and behoof, and the said Samuel R. Johnson doth
covenant, grant and agree with the said Simeon Sikes, his
and assigns that the said Samuel R. Johnson is now the owner
of said Land, and that he has good right, full power and
lawful authority to sell and convey said land, and the said
Saml R. Johnson will, and his heirs, Executors and administrators
Shall forever warrant and defend the said Simeon Sikes his
heirs and assigns, the right and title to the said Land against
all claims whatsoever. Provided nevertheless and these
presents are upon this express condition that if the said 
Samuel R. Johnson, his heirs and assigns, shall pay or cause
to be paid to the said Simeon Sikes, his heirs, Executors
administrators and assigns, the sum of Eleven hundred and
thirty six Dollars in said promissory notes mentioned, then and
from thence forth, as well this Indenture, and the estate hereby
created, and the said promissory notes shall cease and determine
and be of no effect.

Alachua County   } Before the subscriber Clerk of the Circuit
of Alachua County, Eastern Circuit of Florida, personally
came Edward R. Power one of the subscribing witnesses
to the foregoing instrument of writing who being duly
sworn according to law, Says that he saw Samuel R.
Johnson sign seal and delver the same for the purposes
therein mentioned and that he signed the same
