This Indenture made and entered into this 19th day of
June 1843, by and between Edmond Penn and his Daughter
Jane Penn of the first part, and Edwin H. Jordan of
the other part, all of the County of Amherst, whereas a
marriage is Shortly is Shortly intended to have and Solem=
=nised Between the Said Edwin H. Jordan, and the Said Jane Penn,
and it hath been agreed by and between the said Edwin H. Jordan
and the said Jane Penn and the Said Edmond Penn her
Father that all the property, rights, interest and estate of
the Said Jane Penn Shall be Secured to her and her issue
as hereinafter provided, So as not to be in any manner liable
to the debts or contracts or liabilities of the Said Edwin H.
Jordan, Now this Indenture witnesseth, that the Said Jane
Penn by and with the approbation and consent of her
Father the Said Edmand and her intended Husband the
Said Edwin H. Jordan Signafied by their becoming parties
hereto, and Signing and Sealing this Indenture for and
in consideration of the premises, and the further consideration
of one dollar lawful money of Virginia to her in hand
paid, at and before the Sealing and delivery of this Indenture
by the Said Edwin H. Jordan, the receipt of which is hereby
fully acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, Sold, aliened,
enfeofed and confirmed, and doth by these presents grant,
bargain, Sell, enfeoff and confirm unto the Said Edwin
H. Jordan all the Estate real and personal of her the
Said Jane Penn in possession, reversion, or remainder and all
debts, choses in action, rights and interest unto her belonging,
or to which She is or may become in any manner entitled, her
Said Estate consisting of an undivided equal Share or interest
in common with Same or all of her Sisters as the case may be,
in the lands and Slaves, Stock and other Estate real and personal
now in the possession and enjoyment of the family of the Said
Edmand Penn, or held in trust for their use and benefit,
and all other estate real & personal, rights, & interest,
to her belonging, or to which She is entitled, or may become
entitled, whether herein enumerated or not, and all property or
estate, of what kind or nature whatever, to which She
may hereafter become entitled by inheritance, or devise,
bequest, or donation, or under the acts of distribution, To
have and to hold the Estate, rights and interest, of her
the Said Jane Penn herein conveyed to the Said Edwin
H. Jordan, his heirs and assigns forever, upon trust nevertheless
that the Said Edwin H. Jordan Shall hold the Estate
hereby conveyed, and every part thereof, until the Solemnization
