This indenture made the twenty sixth day December
A.D. one thousand eight-hundred and fifty-four Between
Mary C. Russell of the County of Alachua and State of
Florida, Party of the first part and Charles L. Wilson
of the County and State aforesaid party of the Second
part, Whereas the said party of the first part is desirous
to make provision for Susan, Martha, Matilda J. &
Frances E. the children of Charles L & Lydia Wilson,
all of whom are minors against future consequences, and
for their maintenances and support. Now therefore this
Indenture witnesseth that this said party of the first
part for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars
lawful money of the United States, to her in hand paid by
the said party of the Second part, before the ensealing and
delivery of there presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknow=
=ledged, have granted bargained and sold, and delivered and by
these presents do grant, bargain, sell and deliver unto the
said party, the Second part Seven Negro Slaves of the
following description, to wit; Silva Fifty five years old,
Rebecca Sixteen years old Malinda eleven years old, Sarah
Six years old, Gabriel five years old, Edward five years
old, and Elvira three years old, to have and to hold the
said described Slaves to the said party of the second
part his successors and assigns.
In Trust, to and for the several uses, intents and purposes
hereinafter mentioned namely,
First--In trust to hire out said slaves, or employ them in
such manner as to him may best, and to take collect and
receive the income and profits thereof, and out of the same
to pay all taxes assessments and charges, that may be imposed thereon.
Second In Trust, to appropriate the residue of such profits, and
income to the support & maintenance, and education of Susan,
Martha Matilda J. & Frances E. the children of Charles L., and
Lydia Wilson.
Third. In Trust, to convey to each one of above named
Children one fourth part of the above described personal
property, upon their marrying, or attaining the age of twenty one
Fourth, In Trust, Should one or more of the above named children
die before marrying or attaining the age of twenty one, then
the above described Slaves shall be divided between the survivors
Share and share alike.
And the said party of the second part, doth hereby signiafy
his acceptance of this trust and doth hereby cevenant and agree,
to and with the said party of the first part, faithfully to
discharge, and execute this same, according to the true intent and
meaning of these presents:
In Witness Whereof the said party of the first
part has hereunto set her hand and seal the day and year.
