Alachua County   } I hereby certify that the above
acknowledgment of Dower, was made by Catharine
G. Payne and Grace M. Merry, separate and apart from
their Husbands George B. Payne and Horace Merry.

  This Indenture, made the fifth day of May 
in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty five
Between Henry G. Marquand of the City, County and
State of New York of the first part and Thomas
Whittaker Senior of Kershaw District, South Carolina
of the second part, Witnesseth that the said
party of the first part for and in consideration
of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars lawful
money of the United States of America, to him in
hand paid, by the said party of the second part,
at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath remised
released and quit claimed, and by these presents, doth
remise, release and quit claim, unto the second party
of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever,
all that certain Lot, piece or parcel of Land, situate
lying and being in the County of Alachua and State
of Florida and known as section number thirty six
(36) in Township ten (10) in Range eighteen (18)
containing six hundred and twenty four (624) acres
more or less being a part of the Arredondo grant and
one of the sections bid off in the name of said Henry G.
Marquand at a sale of said grant held in Micanopy
in February 1849. Together with all and singular
the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances there=
=unto belonging or in any wise appertaining and
the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders,
rents, issues and profits thereof, and all the estate,
right, title, and interest, property, possession, claim
and demand whatsoever, as well in law as in
                                  first
equity, of the said party of the^second part of
in or to the above described premises, and every part
and parcel thereof, with the appurtenances. To 
have and to hold all and singular the above
mentioned and described premises, together with the
appurtenances, unto the said party of the second
part and his heirs and assigns forever.
