Alachua County } This Indenture entered into this the sixth
day of June one thousand eight hundred and fifty
five, between James B. Bailey and Mary N.
Bailey (his wife) of the first part and I.M.
Richardson of the second part witnesseth
for and in consideration of the sum of fifty five
($55.00) dollars, to us in hand paid the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged, we have this day bargained
and sold and by these presents do bargain and
sell to the said Richardson, his heirs, executors
administrators or assigns, the following tract or
parcel of land to wit: Beginning at the
point where the northern boun "Sweet water" branch
branch crosses the Northern boundary of the town
of Gainesville, thence west along said boundary
to the section line dividing sections four and
five (4 & 5) Township Ten, Range twenty, Thence
North along said section line three hundred feet
thence East to sweet water Branch, thence down
the middle of the run of said Sweet water branch
to the point of beginning, containing five
and one half acres (5 1/2 ) more or less
To have and to hold to the said Richardson
his heirs executors administrators or assigns
together with all the rights and appurtenances
thereunto belonging: And we do covenant
with the said Richardson, that we are lawfully
seized of the above described tract of land; that we
have good and sufficient right to sell the same
and we do warrant and defend the said Richardson
his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns in the
peaceable possession of the same, against the
lawful claims of all persons whomsoever
  In witness whereof we have hereunto set our
hands and seals this the day and year above written

Personally appeared before me Andrew Robb an
acting Justice of the peace in and for Alachua
County J.B. Bailey and Mary N. Bailey his wife
the signers to the above instrument of writing
who say that it was executed for the purposes
therein mentioned, and on the part of the wife
that it was signed by her without compulsion
or the fear of it on her part
  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and official seal this the first day
of August (1855) Eighteen hundred and fifty five
