                  This Indenture made and entered
into this the first day of February in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six
between James D. Colson and his wife Margaret
A. Colson of the County and State aforesaid of the
first part and Jacob Smith all of the same
place, Witnesseth, that the said James D. Colson
and Margaret A. Colson, have this day in con
sideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars
to them in hand paid at the sealing and delivery
of these presents, the receipt of which they hereby
acknowledge, have this day bargained and sold
and by these presents do bargain and sell unto
Jacob Smith all that parcel of land lying in the
County aforesaid known and designated on the
map of the Arredondo Grant, The North East
quarter of section No (3) three, in Township NO (12)
twelve of Range No (19) nineteen, containing one hun
dred and sixty acres more or less, To have and
to hold the same with all appurtenances to
him the said Jacob Smith his heirs and as-
signs forever, and we do hereby warrant and will
forever defend the title hereby conveyed, against
all and every person or persons claiming by, or
through us or any way whatsoever, In testimony
whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals
this the day and year first above written

State of Florida } Before the subscriber a Justice of the
Alachua County   } peace within and for the County and State
aforesaid personally came, Margaret A. Colson wife of
James D. Colson in the above deed mentioned and
who being by me examined separate and apart from
her said husband, acknowledged and declared that
she renounced and relinquished all her dower and
right of dower in and to the lands mentioned in
said deed, and that said relinquishment was made
freely and voluntarily on her part, without any com
pulsion, apprehension or fear of or from her said
husband. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand
and seal Feby 1st 1856

Before me Lemuel Wilson Clerk of the Circuit Court of Alach
ua County, Eastern Circuit of Florida personally came on this
12th day of Feby 1856, Samuel B. McLin one of the subscribing
witnesses to the foregoing deed, who being duly sworn says

that he saw the same signed and delivered^for the
