Alachua County   } I Robt Youngblood Clerk of the Circuit
Court of Alachua County, Eastern Circuit of Florida
do hereby certify that McQueen McIntosh a Subscribing witness
to the foregoing instrument of writing, personally came before me
and who being duly Sworn according to law Stated on oath that he
Saw Catharine A. Sadler Sign, Seal, and deliver the Same for the
purposes therein mentioned, and that he Signed the Same as a witness

Alachua County   } This Indenture made this Sixteenth day
of February A.D. 1855. Between Thomas C. Love, of Said State
and County, and Mathew W. Smith of the Same place, Witnesseth
that the said Thomas C. Love, for and in Consideration of
five dollars to him in hand paid by the Said Smith, the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, as well for the
better Securing the payment of a certain promissory note
for the Sum of one thousand dollars, bearing even date
with these presents, given and Signed by the Said Thomas C.
Love to the Said Mathew W. Smith, and due and payable
by the first day of January next, have granted, bargained,
Sold, and delivered, and by these presents do grant, bargain,
Sell and deliver to the Said Mathew W. Smith, three Negro
Slaves, to wit: Clarissa a woman, thirty Six years of age,
Nancy Seven years of age, and Cyrus one year and Six months
of age, the two last being Children of the Said first
named Clarissa; To have and to hold the Said Slaves to him
the Said Mathew W. Smith, his Executors, Administrators and
assigns for ever, and to his and their only benefit use and
behoof, and I the Said Thomas C. Love, my heirs, Executors
and Administrators, Shall and will warrant the Said Slaves
to be Sound of body and mind, and to be Slaves for life
and the title thereof to the Said Mathew W. Smith, Shall
and will warrant, and for ever defend, by these presents
Now the condition of this Indenture is Such, that if the
Said Thomas C. Love Shall well and truly pay, or cause to
be paid the Said promissory note, according to the tenor and
effect of Said note, then, as well the Said note as this Indenture
Shall cease, and be null and void else to remain in full force
and virtue, both in law and Equity
