   Whereas the act of Congress passed on the 12th day January 1825, 
entitled an act authorising repayment for land erroneously Sold by the 
United States, provides that whenever the Sale of a tract of land, by 
the United States, is void for want of title thereto in the United 
States, or from any other cause whatsoever, the money paid on the Same
Shall be refunded by the Secretary of the treasury, and whereas a part of 
the within patented land to wit, of the South E. Quarter of the South
SW1/4, of Sec 21 T.7. S.R.18.E. and the West half of N.E. Quarter of
Sec 28. S.7. S.R.18.E. and included in the Survey of the private claim 
of George Atkinson. Now Know ye, that for and in consideration 
of the Sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to me in hand paid by 
the Secretary of Treasury, we the undersigned heirs at law of James L.
Townsend within named do hereby relinquish, assign and transfer, and
Surrender to the United States, all our rights, title, interest and claim
of and of, in, and to the land above described,

of the Treasury, we the grantees heirs at law of James L. Townsend Decd
within named, do hereby assign, transfer, relinquish, and Surrender to 
the United States, all our rights, title, interest, and claim of, in
and to the said East half of NE1/4 of Sec 28, T.7. S. R. 18.
