John C. Doolittle to J.R. Smallwood
"Deed"
State of Florida } Know all men by these presents that I John
Alachua County } C. Doolittle party of the first part of the aforesaid
county and State for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred
& fifty dollars to me in hand paid by J.R. Smallwood party of the
second part of the County of Macon in the State of Illinois the
receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold
and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey
unto him the said J.R. Smallwood party of the second part all
of that certain lot piece tract or parcel of land situated lying and
being in the County of Alachua in the State of Florida particularly
known and described as follows to wit: The West half of the North
half of the East half of the North west 1/4 of the South West 1/4 Section
12 Township 9 South of Range 20 East (or W1/2 of N1/2 of Lot No 23)
containing by estimation five acres of land more or less. Together with
all and singular the tenements hereditaments and appurtenances
to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining. To Have and
Hold the same unto him the said J.R. Smallwood party of the
second part and to his heirs executors administrators and assigns
in fee simple and absolute. And I the said John C. Doolittle
party of the first part do hereby covenant and agree to and with
the said J.R. Smallwood party of the second part that I lawfully
seized in fee of the property herein and hereby conveyed and that
I have good and lawful right to sell and convey the same; that the
same is free form all encumbrances of any kind whatsoever and that I
will and my heirs executors and administrators shall and will
forever warrant and defend the same unto him the said J.R.
Smallwood party of the second part and to his heirs executors adminis=
trators and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of any
and all persons whomsoever now claiming or hereafter to claim the
same. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal on this 18th day of February AD 1882
