Joseph H. Durkee United States Marshall to Leonard G. Dennis
"Deed"
This Indenture made this fourth day of October in the Year of Our Lord one
Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty between Joseph H. Durkee United
States Marshal for the Northern District of Florida of the first part and
Leonard G. Dennis of Alachua County Florida of the Second part. Whereas
by virtue of a certain execution issued out of and under the seal of the
United States Circuit Court Fifth Judicial Circuit Northern District of
Florida tested the second day of August AD 1880 at the Suit of
Richard C. Dennis plaintiff against the County of Alachua defendant
directed and delivered to the said Marshal Commanding him that
of the goods and chattels lands and tenements of said defendant
he cause to be made certain moneys in said execution specified
the said Marshal did levy on and seize all the estate right title
and interest which the said defendant had of in and to the
property hereinafter described and on the first Monday in October
AD 1880 being the fourth day of the month and a legal Sale day
sold the said property at public Auction in front of the Court
House in the City of Jacksonville in said Northern District of
Florida having first given public Notice of the time and place of
such sale by advertising said property for sale in manner and form
as required by the Statute in such cases made and provided in
the Evening Telephone an official news paper published in said
City of Jacksonville in said County for thirty days next preceding
said day of sale; and that at such sale the said property was
struck off to the said party of the second part for the Sum of
One Hundred and forty-one dollars he being the highest bidder
therefor and that being the highest sum bid for the same. Now
This Indenture Witnesseth That the said party of the first part
as Marshal as aforesaid by Virtue of the said execution and in
pursuance of the Statute in such cases made and provided and
in Consideration of the sum of money so bid as aforesaid and in
hand paid to the said party of the first part by the said party
of the second part at and before the sealing and delivery of
these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath
granted bargained Sold and conveyed and by these presents doth
