John M. Taylor And A.J. Shuford
"Agreement"
State of Florida } This Agreement made and entered into on this 13 day of
Alachua County } May AD 1882 by and between John M. Taylor and Andrew J.
Shuford both of Alachua County Florida Witnesseth that the said John M.
Taylor is the owner in fee simple of those Certain tracts or parcels of
land Situated lying and being in Alachua County Florida and
known and designated upon a map of the Leitner lands made by
Wm C. Miller Civil Engineer which is of record in the public records of
Said State and County as being Lots Nine (9) Ten (10) Eleven (11) and
Twelve the same being in and adjacent to the south side of Paynes
Prarie. And the said John M. Taylor being desirous of having all the
available portions of said Lots converted into Sweet Orange groves
the said parties have agreed in reference thereto as follows:
The Said John M. Taylor agrees to furnish one (1) more strand of
wire of sufficient length to go once around that portion of
said land that is now at this date enclosed by wire fencing. The said
wire here furnished by the said Taylor to be put up by the said
Shuford. The said Shuford is to take Charge of said Lots of land
and is to plant out thereon during the years AD 1882 and AD 1883 at his
the said Shufords own expense as much of the said land in sweet
orange trees as in his the said Shufords best Judgement is adopted to
and available for the successful groth of the Orange trees. The number
of Acres to be thus planted out in orange trees to be not less than
twenty (20) Acres. And the said Orange to be planted out thereon
are to stand no greater distance apart than thirty (30) feet and
the said A.J. Shuford is further to properly care for Cultivate prune and
trim said Orange trees and at his own expense continuously protect
the same from the depredations of Stock and animals of all kinds
as well as from the deprations of man for Seven (7) Years from the
time of the planting and rooting of the trees that may be last
planted out by him before any division of said land can be claimed
that is hereinafter provided for The Said Shuford it is further
agreed is to have and enjoy all of the rents issues and profits
arising from or growing out of said land during the entire time
