John J.M. Hodge To Thomas Barnes
              "Deed"
State of Florida  } This Indenture made the Twenty fourth day of June one
County of Alachua } Thousand eight Hundred and Eighty two between John
J.M. Hodge of the State and County aforesaid and Mary Martha his wife
parties of the first part and Thomas Barnes of Alachua County Florida
of the Second part Witnesseth That the said parties of the first part
for and inconsideration of the sum of Forty dollars lawful money of
the United States to them in hand paid by the said partie of the second
part at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged have remised released and quit claimed and by
these presents do remise release and quit claim unto the said partie of the 
second part and to his heirs and assigns for ever all that certain piece
or parcel of land lying and being situated in Alachua County Florida
to wit: The NE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Sec 4 T 10 R 17 containing forty acres
more or less together with all and singular the Tenements hereditaments and
appurtenances there unto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the
foregoing described premises also all the Estate right title interest dower and
right of dower to have and to hold all and singular the above mentioned described
premises Together with the appurtenances unto the said partie of the second
part his heirs and assigns forever in witness whereof the said parties
of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and
year first above written                       his

County of Alachua } personally appeared before me John J.M. Hodge and
Mary Martha Hodge and acknowledged that they signed the foregoing deed
of conveyance for the purposes therein Expressed this the 24 day of

Personally appeared before me Mary Martha Hodge the wife of John
J.M. Hodge to me well known and after being examined separate and
apart from her Husband acknowledged that she signed the foregoing Deed
of conveyance voluntarily of her own free will and accord without any
fear or compulsion on the part of her said Husband this the day and
year above written
