Alachua County   } Whereas I Edward A. Hawkins
(Bachelor} of the aforesaid State and County am indebted
unto Joseph W. Coburn of 115 Dartmouth Street in the City
of Boston State of Massachusetts in the Sum of Five
hundred and Eighty Eight ($588.00) dollars by my prom-
issory note bearing date the 1st day of March AD 1882
and payable three (3) years after the date thereof with
interest from the date thereof at the rate of Ten (10) percent
per annum - and whereas I am desirous of fully and
effectually Securing the payment of said promissory note
according to its legal tenor and effect = Therefore know all
men by these presents that I the said Edward A. Haw-
kins for and in Consideration of the premises and of the
said Sum of Five hundred and Eighty Eight dollars
so owing by me as aforesaid by my promissory note
aforesaid have granted bargained sold conveyed and
mortgaged and by these presents do grant bargain
sell convey and mortgage unto him the said Joseph
W. Coburn the following described piece parcel or
tract of land situate lying and being in the County
of Alachua in the State of Florida particularly dis-
cribed as being the East half of the South West
Quarter of Section Twenty one (21) in Township Nine (9)
South of Range Nineteen (19) East Containing Eighty
acres of land more or less = Together with all and
Singular the tenements hereditaments and appurten-
ances to the Same belonging or in anywise appertaining
To have and to hold the Same unto him the said
Joseph W. Coburn and to his heirs executors admin-
istrators and assigns forever = Provided, always nevertheless
and this instrument is executed and delivered upon
this expressed Condition that if I the said Edward A.
Hawkins Shall and do well and truly pay the full
amount of the said promissory note for the Sum of
Five hundred and Eighty Eight Dollars at the time
the same falls due together with all interest thereon to
accrue according to the legal tenor and effect of the
Said promissory note and together also with all reas-
onable attorneys fees costs and charges for the fore-
closure of this instrument in the event a foreclosure
thereof Should become necessary for the Collection of
the same which attorneys fees costs and charges I
hereby covenant and agree to pay in the event this
Mortgage has to be enforced by foreclosure then this
instrument is to become wholly null and void otherwise
