Thomas L. Carter To Josephine M. Brooks

State of Florida } Know all men by these Presents That whereas I Thomas L. 
Alachua County   } Carter of the above State and County is indebted to Josephine
M. Brooks of the same State and County in the sum of Two hundred dollars
which said sum is covenanted to be paid by a certain promissory note bearing
                              said
date august 9th 1881 and for the^sum of Two Hundred dollars bearing interest at
the rate of Two per cent per month. Now therefore to better secure the
payment of said note and interest as expressed therein I do by these
presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Josephine M. Brooks
heirs and assigns all my right title interest and claim of in and to
the following described property to wit Block Seven (7) Range Eight
(8) of the original survey of the Town of Gainesille Alachua County
Florida excepting Eighty feet sold to G.W. Black off of the West
side of said Block Seven Range Eight To Have and to Hold all and
singular the crops lands and personal property above bargained and
Sold unto the said Josephine M. Brooks heirs executors administr-
ators and assigns forever. Provided nevertheless that if the said Thomas L.
Carter Should well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said
Josephine M. Brooks the full amount of said note together with
the interest according to its tenor and effect then this instrument
to be void else to remain in full force and virtue. And it is
hereby further agreed that should it become necessary to enforce
this instrument by legal proceedings the said Thomas L. Carter
will pay therefor all attorneys fees charges and expenses
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal this 9th day of August AD 1881
