William Roundtree to G.R. Broome
                     "Mortgage"
     State of Florida Alachua County
Know all men by these Presents that Whereas I William Roundtree of above State
and County am indebted to G.K. Broome of the same State and County in
the sum of Two Hundred & Fifty dollars lawful money of the United States which
said sum is expressed in one certain promissory note bearing date 4th March
1882 and for the sum of Two Hundred & Fifty dollars together with interest at
1 1/4 pr ct pr Mo after maturity Now therefore to better secure said G.K. Broome in
full payment of said note and interest as expressed I do by these presents
grant bargain sell and convey unto the said G.K. Broome his heirs and assigns
all my right title interest and claim of in and to all the crops of whatsoever
Species kind or description now growing or which may hereafter be planted
grown or gathered by me or for me or for my benefit on or off of any and
all lands in Alachua County Florida. Also the following described property
to wit: One white mare Jenny about Nine years old also one Speckled
mare aged 3 yrs next July foal of above White Mare also Colt Nelly
foal of above white Mare said Colt aged 10 months also one 1 Horse wagon
also one cow & Calf also Increase from above. To Have and to Hold all
and singular the crops lands and personal property above bargained and
sold unto the said G.K. Broome his heirs executors administrators
and assigns forever. Provided nevertheless that if the said William Roundtree
should well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said G.K.
Broome the full amount of said note together with the interest
according to its tenor and effect then this instrument to be void
else to remain in full force and virtue. And it is hereby further
agreed that should it become necessary to enforce this instrument
by legal proceedings the said William Roundtree will pay therefor all
attorney's fees charges and expenses. In Witness Whereof I hereunto set
my hand and affix my seal this 4th day of March AD 1882
