full amount of said note together with the interest according to its
tenor and effect then this instrument to be void else to remain in full force and
virtue. And it is hereby further agreed that should it become necessary to
enforce this instrument by legal proceedings the said W.A. Strickland will
pay therefore all attorney's fees charges and expenses. In Witness Whereof

      Nelson Powell to Leander C. Doane

      State of Florida  Alachua County
Know all men by these presents that I Nelson Powell of Alachua
County State of Florida in consideration of Seventy Dollars to me in hand
paid by Leander C. Doane the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge
I have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do convey to said
Leander C. Doane and his heirs and assigns forever the following described
property,,one mouse colored mule also one sorrel horse colt one year old
also one Iron grey mare 4 years old & 50 acres cotton Also all right title
interest of me the said Nelson Powell my heirs executors and administrators of
in and to all the crops of every description now growing or which hereafter
at any time in the future be planted grown or gathered by me or for me on
or off of any land in Alachua County Fla until the debt hereby secured
with interest is fully paid. To have and to hold all and singular the
personal property and crops above bargained for and sold unto the said
Doane his heirs executors and administrators forever. Provide nevertheless
that if the said Nelson Powell shall well and truly pay or cause
to be paid One certain promissory note bearing even date herewith
calling Seventy Dollars with interest at ten per cent per annum
payable November 1st AD 1882 and signed by said Nelson Powell
according to the conditions thereof and shall also pay all advances
hereafter made then this obligation shall be null and void otherwise
remain in full force and effect And provided further that until default
is made by said Powell in the performance of the condition
aforesaid it shall be lawful for said Powell to retain possession
