Alachua County } Whereas I J.F. Fontane of the
Town of Micanopy in the County and State aforesaid
am indebted unto St John Kirkham and Company
Merchants and partners doing business in the City of
New York in the aggregate Sum of Eight hundred and
Seven 13/100 Dollars by my Three (3) promissory notes, the first
for Two Hundred and sixty nine dollars and due October
31st 1882, the second for Two hundred ans Sixty nine 13/100
dollars due November 30th 1882 and the third for Two
hundred and sixty nine dollars due December 30th 1882
and being desirous of fully and effectually Securing
the payment of the said Three (3) promissory notes
Therefor know all men by these presents that we
the said F.W. Fontane and B.W. Fontane her husband
for and in Consideration of the premises and of the said
sums of money so owing by the said F.W. Fontane
as aforesaid have granted bargained sold assigned
transferred and mortgaged and by these presents do
grant bargain sell convey assign and transfer unto
the said St John Kirkham and Company all of our
entire Stock of General Merchandise Consisting of
a general assortment of Dry Goods, Groceries, Boots and
shoes, clothing, Hats and Caps, Hardware, Cutlery, Tinware
Crockery and glass-ware Notions and fancy Articles Wood
and willow-ware and all Store fixtures and furniture
now being in or which may in future be purchased
and placed in the store Houses of the Said F.W. Fontane
situated in the Town of Micanopy in Alachua County
Florida and in the Town of Flemington in Marion County
Florida together also with all Cotton Corn and other Country
produce and all other property of any kind or description
which may be purchased or bartered for at either of
said store houses at the said Towns of Micanopy and
Flemington and together also with all of our right
title interest claim and estate of in and to that Certain
Lot in parcel of land situated in the Town of Micanopy
in said Alachua County Florida Commonly known as the
"King lot" recently sold to the said F.W. Fontane by Thos
F. King and upon which the said F.W. Fontane lately
did a merchantile business and upon which the
store house of the said F.W. Fontane was recently des-
troyed by fire= Together with all and Singular the
tenements hereditaments and appurtenances to the said
lot belonging or in anywise appertaining=
To Have and to Hold the same unto them the said
