the said Gregory Y. Thigpen am justly indebted to Samuel
L. Hawthorn party of the second part in the sum of sixty
six $6600 dollars lawful money of the United States of Ame-
rica with interest at the rate of one per cent a month as
will fully appear by his promissory note of even date herewith
Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said party of the first
part for the better securing the payment of said sum of
money mentioned in this mortgage and in said promissory
note and also for and in consideration of the sum of one
dollar to him in hand paid by the said party of the
second part at or before the ensealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
has granted bargained sold, aliened, remised released con-
veyed and confirmed and by these presents do dose grant
bargain, sell, alien remise release convey and confirm unto the
said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns
forever All that certain Lot or tract of land lying and
being in the town of Hawthorn in said State and County and
described as follows to wit: Commencing at the South
west corner of the north east quarter of the south East
quarter Section (27) Twenty seven Township (10) Ten
South Range 22 Twenty two East Thence south (86°}
and 45') Eighty six degrees and forty five minutes
west Six chains and Thirty six links to to the South East
corner of house lot and place of beginning Thence
north (2° and 30') two degrees and thirty minutes West
five chains and sixty nine links thence South (86° & 45')
eighty six degrees and forty five minutes West three
chains and sixteen links thence north two degrees and
thirty minutes West one chain thirty nine links thence
South Eighty six degrees and forty five minutes West
three chains and fifty six links thence South two degrees
and thirty minutes East seven chains and eight links
thence north eighty six degrees and forty five minutes
East six chains and seventy two links back to place of
beginning containing four and thirty five one hundredths
acres. Together with all and singular the tenements, here
ditaments, and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise
appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder
and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and also
all the Estate right title interest dower and right of
dower seperate estate property possession claim and
demand whatsoever as well in law as in equity of the
said party of the first part of in and to the same and
every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances to have
and to hold the above granted and described prem-
ises unto the said party of the second part his heirs and
assigns to his and their own proper uses benefit and
