     John C. Ryder to Charles Burleigh
               "Mortgage"
State of Florida }
Alachua County   } Whereas I John D. Ryder of the town
of Gainesville in Alachua County in the State of Florida
and indebted unto Charles Burleigh of Town of Fitch-
burg in the County of Worcester in the State of Massach-
usetts in the sum of Five Thousand Dollars by
my Five certain promissory notes for the sum of one
Thousand Dollars each all of the said notes bearing
even dates with these presents the first thereof payable
January 1st AD 1884 The second thereof payable January
1st 1885 the third thereof payable January 1st 1886 the
fourth thereof payable January 1st 1887, And the fifth
of said notes being payable January 1st 1888, all
of them bearing interest from date at the rate
of Six (.06) per cent per annum until paid And whereas
I the said John D. Ryder am also indebted to
H.F. Dutton and Company of Gaineville Florida
by my certain other promissory note in the sum
of one thousand dollars said note being dated
December 26th AD 1882 and being payable on
the 1st day of April AD 1883. And whereas the
said Charles Burleigh has become surety for me
upon said promissory note for one Thousand
Dollars so payable by me as aforesaid to the said
H.F. Dutton & Company by becoming endorser thereof
and whereas I am desirous of fully and effectively
securing to the said Charles Burleigh the payment
of said Five (5) promissory notes so payable
to him as aforesaid and am also desirous of
fully indemnifying him the said Charles Burleigh
against any loss by reason of his endorsement
