E.L. Long to Charles W. Bauknight

State of Florida }
Alachua County   } Know all men by these presents
that we Edward L. Long and Nancy Long of the County
of Alachua and State of Florida for and in the consider
ation of the sum of thirty five dollars ($3500) to us in
hand paid by Charles W. Bauknight merchant of the
Town of Archer County of Alachua  and State of Florida
The receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have this
day bargained sold and delivered and by these
presents do hereby bargain sell deliver and convey 
unto the C.W. Bauknight merchant the following des-
cribed property to wit: One cream horse one cow
marked upper slope and under bit in each
ear and all the growing crop planted by us for
the year 1883 to have and to hold said described
property unto the said Charles W. Bauknight Mer-
chant his heirs and assigns as his and their abso-
lute property in fee simple forever. Provided never-
theless the within is considered in the nature of a mort-
gage for the purpose of securing to Charles W. Bauk-
night merchant the payment of ($3500) on the first
day of December AD 1883 now if we shall well and
truly pay said amount when due and on demand
then this to be null and void else to remain in full
force and virtue and on default of said payment
this to be considered a Boni Fide Bill of sale and
the said Charles W. Bauknight merchant is authorized
to take possession of said property we also waive the
benefit of the homestead Laws of the State of Florida
In witness whereof we have hereunto affixed our hands
and seals this the 13th day of January AD 1883

Alachua County   } On this day personally appeared before
me Edward L. Long and his wife Nancy Long to me well
known as the persons whose names are subscribed to the
within and acknowledged that they signed and executed
same for the purposes and uses therein contained subscribed
before me this 13th day of January AD 1883
