      Mary E. Cheves to J.S. Ferry
           "Mortgage"
   This Indenture made the Eight day of February
in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and
eighty Three Between Mary E. Cheves and William T. Cheves
of Alachua County Florida of the first part and Joseph
S. Ferry of Aurora Illinois of the second part whereas
the said Mary E. Cheves and W.T. Cheves justly indebted to
Joseph S. Ferry of the second part in the sum of One
Hundred and fifty dollars lawful money of the United
States of America For which they have given their prom
issory note for the said amount of one $15000 
Hundred and fifty Bearing date with these presents
due and to be paid three years from date with interest
at ten per cent per annum said interest to be paid
annually Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said parties
of the first part for the better securing the payment of the
said sum of money mentioned in the said promissory
note and also for and in consideration of the sum of
one Dollar to them in hand paid by the said party of
the second part at or before the ensealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained sold aliened remised released con
veyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bar
gain sell alien remise release convey and confirm unto
the said party of the second part and his heirs and
assigns forever All that Lot or parcel of land lying
and being in Alachua County Florida and known
and described as the south east quarter of the North
east quarter of section Twenty-six in Township Eight
Range Twenty one East SE1/4 of the NE1/4 Sec 26 T.8.
R.21.E. containing forty acres more or less Together
with all and singular the tenements hereditaments and
appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining
and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders
rents issues and profits thereof and also the Estate
right title interest seperate Estate property possession claim
and demand whatsoever as well in law as in equity of the
said parties of the first part of in and to the same and
every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances To have
and to hold the above granted and described premises
unto the said party of the second part his heirs and
assigns to his own proper use benefit and behoof forever
Provided always and these presents are on this Exp-
ress condition that if the said Mary E. Cheves and
William T. Cheves their heirs executors administrators
shall well and truly pay unto the said party
of the Second part his heirs executors administrators

For and in consideration of the full and complete satisfaction of the payment of the sum of money
secured to be paid by the within Mortgage I hereby cancel and discharge the same from Record
this 7th day of February 1888
