     Mitchel Hill to Eli Futch
             "Mortgage"
State of Florida }
Alachua County   } Whereas Mitchel Hill is justly
indebted to Eli Futch in the sum of three Hundred
and four 34/100 dollars which said sum of money is
covenanted to be paid by his certain promissory note
having even date herewith described as follows
On or before the first day of December AD 1883
I promise to pay Eli Futch or Bearer Three Hundred
and Four dollars and thirty four cents ($304. 34/100)
for value received of him with interest at 10 pr ct
per annum from date January 25th 1883.

And Whereas he is desirous of fully and better securing
the payment of said note and the sum of money mentioned
therein Therefore know all men by these presents that I 
Mitchell Hill for and in consideration of the premises
and the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid
have granted bargained and sold and by these pres-
ents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said
Eli Futch his heirs and assigns all the following described
piece parcel or tract of land to wit:
 The North half of Lots # 4 & 5 and the East Half of
Lot #6 of Section 30 in Township 7S of Range 20
East Lying and being in Alachua County and State of
Florida also Thirty head of stock Cattle marked
Swallow Fork and upper bit in one ear and under
slope and upper bit in the other Branded M.H. together
with all and singular the tenements hereditaments and
appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold the
same unto the said Eli Futch in fee simple absolute forever
Provided however and these presents are upon this
express consideration that if the said Mitchell Hill
his heirs and assigns shall well and truly pay or cause
to be paid the sum of money covenanted to be paid
by said note together with the interest to accrue
thereon according to the legal tenor thereof then this
obligation shall become null and void else to rem-
ain in full force and virtue And it is hereby further
agreed and stipulated that the said Mitchell Hill
will pay all expenses, costs and attorneys fees which the
said Eli Futch may be put to in enforcing the coll-
ection of the aforesaid sum of money covenanted to
to be paid by said note by foreclosure or otherwise
in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal on this 25th day of January AD 1883.
