Samuel L. Hawthorn To Augustus Monroe

Alachua County } Whereas I Samuel L. Hawthorn of
Alachua County, Florida am indebted unto A. Monroe of
Putnam County, Florida by my promissory note in the sum
of Eighteen Hundred and fifty dollars said Note bearing date
the 1st day of June AD 1882 and being payable Twelve months after the date
thereof and bearing interest from date at the rate of Ten (10) percent
per annum until paid and which note is endorsed by E.T. Hawthorn
as surety - and whereas I am desirous of more fully and effectually securing
the payment of said promissory note Therefore the premises considered
Know all men in these presents that I the said Samuel L. Hawthorn for and
in consideration of the premises and of the said sum of Eighteen Hundred and
fifty dollars so owing by me by the promissory note aforesaid have granted
bargained sold aliened conveyed and Mortgaged and by these presents do grant
bargain sell alien convey and Mortgage unto him the said A.
Monroe all of that certain tract piece or parcel of land situated lying
and being in Alachua County in the State of Florida particularly
described as beginning on the South West corner of Section Twenty Six (26)
in Township Ten (10) South of Range Twenty Two (22) East thence
North on Section line dividing Sections twenty six (26) and Twenty seven (27)
Six (6) chains and twenty seven (27) links to corner thence North Eighty five
(85°) Degrees East Ten (10) chains and Sixty (60) Links to Rail Road ditch
and beginning again at the first above mentioned point of commencement
thence running West along the section line dividing Sections Twenty Seven
(27) and Thirty four (34) Twenty (20) chains to corner thence South Forty
(40) chains to corner thence Sixteen (16) chains and fifty (50) Links
to Rail Road ditch the said tract of land being bounded on the
east by the Rail Road and containing by estimation Ninety five 53/100 acres
of land more or less= Together with all and singular the tenements
