John H. Townsend to A. Einstein & et al
"Mortgage"
This Indenture made the twenty sixth day of February
in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eighty Hundred
and Eighty three Between John H. Townsend and his wife Lucinda
Townsend both of Alachua County State of Florida parties
of the first part and J.A. Einstein S.A. Einstein and Frank
Einstein partners in business under the firm name of A. Einstein
Sons and S.H. Eckman A. Velsburg partners in business under
firm name of Eckman and Velsburg both firms of City of
Savannah State of Georgia parties of the second part. Whereas
the said John H. Townsend is justly indebted to the said named
parties of the second part in the sum of Fifteen Hundred and
seven (150700} Dollars Lawful money of the United States
of America as will be seen by two promissory notes
bearing even date with this indenture payable November
first 1883 for sums of money mentioned as follows one to
A. Einstein Sons for Eight hundred and and Thirty Eight
dollars with fifteen per cent interest per annum from
date one to Eckman and Velsburg for six hundred and
Sixty five dollars with interest at fifteen per cent
per annum from date both notes aggregating the sum
of Fifteen hundred and seven dollars. Now this indenture
witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for the better
securing the payment of the said sum of money ment-
ioned in the two certain promissory notes and also for
and in consideration of the sum of one Dollar to them
in hand paid by the said parties of the second part
at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted
bargained sold aliened remised released conveyed and con
firmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell
alien remise release convey and confirm unto the said parties
of the second part and their heirs and assigns forever one
certain engine boiler belts gins grits mill and all fixtures
to said mill engine and boilers also thirty head of Cattle
branded sixteen (16) marked uper sqare in one ear and
split in the other also one mare named Sallie about nine
years old and also one mare named Molly about Twelve
years old and also one new Buggie and one two horse wagon
also twelve acres of land in lot number two section Three
Towndship (8) Eight Range seventeen East said land situated
as described in following plat
All of above described personal and reality lying and
being in Alachua County State of Florida (and known
as Townsend ferry place Together with all and singular
