L.E. Chestnut to H.F. Dutton & Co

Alachua County } Whereas March 10th 1883 L.E. Chestnut
of Gainesville Alachua County Florida justly indebted to
Mess H.F. Dutton &Co of the same place in the sum of Five
Hundred (500.$) dollars which said sum of money is cov-
enanted to be paid by a certain promissory note bearing
even date herewith one for the sum of Five hundred dollars
Due and payable on October 1st 1883 with interest after
maturity at the rate of 2% per month said note being
made and signed by Chestnut & Clinton and whereas
I am desirous of fully and better securing the payment
of said note and the sum of money mentioned therein
therefore Know all men by these presents that I L.E. Chest-
nut of Gainesville Alachua County State of Florida for
and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of one
dollar to me in hand paid have granted bargained and sold
and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey
unto the said H.F. Dutton &Co of Town County and State
aforesaid his heirs and assigns all the following described
piece parcel or tract of land to wit Beginning at a point
on the south boundary line of section thirty two (32)
Township nine (9) south Range Twenty (20) East which
point is located Fifty Two and a half (52 1/2 feet) east of
the south west corner of the Lot conveyed by deed of
C.O. Bailey Admr of J.B. Bailey dated the 17th day of
November AD 1875 and recorded January 29th 1877 in Deed
Book "J" at page 211 & 212 of the public records of
Alachua County and running from said point of beg
inning North Two hundred and Ten feet (210) feet Thence
East Fifty two and a half (52 1/2) feet Thence south Two
hundred and Ten (210) feet Thence West Fifty two and
a half (52 1/2) feet to the point of beginning containing
one quarter of an acre of land more or less Together
with all and singular the Tenements hereditaments and
appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold the
same unto the said H.F. Dutton &Co in fee simple absolute
forever Provided however and these presents are upon
this express consideration that if the said L.E. Chestnut
his heirs or assigns shall well and Truly pay or cause to
be paid the sum of money covenanted to be paid by said
note together with the interest to accrue thereon according to the
legal tenor thereof then this obligation shall become null

and discharge this mortgage this 5th day of
