John W. Gustine To James B. Brown
"Mortgage"
This Indenture made the day of April in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
Eighty three Between John W. Gustine of the first
part and James B. Brown of the second part
Whereas the said John W. Gustine justly indebted
to James B. Brown of the second part in the Sum
of Two Thousand ($2000) dollars lawful money of
the United States of America. One thousand dol-
lars payable April 7th 1884 and one thousand
dollars due due April 7th 1885 evidenced by promissory
notes each bearing interest from date at the
rate of eight per Cent per annum.
Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said party of
the first part for the better securing the payment of
the said Sum of money mentioned in said promissory
notes and also for and in Consideration of the sum
of five dollars to him in hand paid by the said
party of the second part at or before the ensealing
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold
aliened remised released Conveyed and Confirmed and
by these presents do grant bargain sell alien remise
release convey and Confirm unto the said party of the
Second part and his heirs and assigns forever, All
that Certain tract or parcel of land lying and being
in Section one and Section Two in Township Ten
Range Nineteen East which has this day been
Conveyed to the said John W. Gustine by said James
B. Brown and Ella D. Brown his wife which said
tract of land are specially described in said deed
as being in two lots one Containing one hundred and
Seventeen and a quarter acres more of less and the
other Eighty Seven acres more or less.
Together with all and singular the tenements heredi-
taments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in
anywise appertaining and the reversion and reversions
remainder and remainders rents issues and profits
thereof: And also all the estate right title interest of
and party of first part in said Claim and demand
whatsoever as well in law as in equity of the said
party of the first part of in and to the Same and every
part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances:
To Have and to Hold the above granted and described
premises unto the said party of the second part his
heirs and assigns his own proper use benefit
and behoof forever.

For value received I hereby acknowledge full and complete satisfaction
and final discharge of this mortgage this 13th day of March AD 1884
