for the uses and purposes therein contained and expressed

Alachua County   }   "Mortgage"
                  Know all men by these presents That
whereas Newton Jackson of the above State and County is in-
debted to Saml Hathcock of the same State and County in
the sum of Sixty Dollars which said sum is covenanted
to be paid by one certain promissory note bearing date herewith
and for the said sum of Sixty Dollars. Now therefore to better
secure the payment of said note expressed therein, I do grant
and by these presents bargain sell and convey unto the said
Samuel Hathcock, his heirs and assigns, all my right, title,
interest and claim of, in and to the crops of whatsoever
species kind or description now growing or which may hereafter
be planted grown or gathered by me or for me, or for my benefit
on or off of any and all lands in Alachua County Florida
Also the following described property to wit: One sorrel
colt about one year old (horse). To have and to hold all and
singular the crops, land and personal property above bargained
and sold unto the said Samuel Hathcock, his heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns forever. Provided, nevertheless that
if the said Newton Jackson shall well and truly pay or
cause to be paid to the said Samuel Hathcock, the full amount
of said note according to its tenor and effect then this instru-
ment to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue
And it is hereby further agreed that should it become necessary
to enforce this instrument by legal proceedings, the said
Newton Jackson will pay therefor all attorneys fees charges and
expenses. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal this 10th Day of March AD 1883.
