Tom Ross To G.D. Smoke

Alachua County   } Know all men by these presents
that Whereas Tom Ross is indebted to G.D. Smoke
of the same State and County in the sum of $21 O/100
Twenty One Dollars which said sum is covenanted to
be paid by a certain promissory note for the said sum
of Twenty one Dollars, bearing interest at the rate of__
_____Now therefore the better to secure the payment of
said note and interest as expressed therein I do by these
grant, bargain sell and convey to unto the said G.D. Smoke
his heirs and assigns all my right title, interest and
claim of in and to all crops of whatsoever species
kind or description now growing or which may be hereaf
ter planted grown or gathered by or for me, or for my benefit
on or off of any and all lands in Alachua County Florida
Also the following described property towit: One Horse about
twelve years old named Jim. To have and to hold the
all and singular the crops land and personal property
above bargained and sold unto the said G.D. Smoke
his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever.
Provided nevertheless, that if the said Tom Ross shall
well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said
G.D. Smoke the full amount of said note together with
the interest according to its tenor and effect then this
instrument to be null and void else to remain in full
force and virtue. And it is hereby further agreed that
should it become necessary to enforce this instrument
by legal proceedings the said Tom Ross will pay
therefor all attorneys fees, charges and expenses.
    In witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal this 18th Day of April AD 1883
