knowledged that they executed signed sealed and deli-
vered the foregoing conveyance for the uses and purposes
therein contained and expressed

Alachua County   } Whereas We Cato Johnson
and Phebe Johnson his Wife are justly indeb
ted to James H. Roper in the sum of Five
hundred and Twenty Nine & 80/100 Dollars which sum
of money is covenanted to be paid by Three certain
promissory notes bearing date Jany 10th 1883 one for
the sum of One hundred and Seventy Six Dollars
and 60/100 Dollars due and payable on the first day Nov AD 1883
and One for the sum of One hundred and Seventy
Six & 60/100 Dollars due and payable on the first day of
November AD 1884 and also another one for the sum of
One hundred and Seventy Six & 60/100 Dollars due and pay
-able on the first day of November AD 1884 all bearing int
erest upon the date thereof at the rate of 8% per annum
And Whereas, We are desirous of fully and better securing
the payment of said notes and the sum of money men-
tioned therein. Therefore know all men by these
presents that We Cato Johnson and Phebe Johnson
aforesaid for and in consideration of the premises
and the sum of one Dollar to us in hand paid have
granted bargained and sold and by these presents do
grant, bargain sell and convey unto the said James
H. Roper his heirs and assigns all the following
described peice parcel or tract of land towit:
The East half of Lot Six (6) of the Thomas Napier
Grant as will fully appear by reference had to a
plat of the same duly recorded in Deed Book "I" page
