A. Goodson To H.B. Claflin & Co
             "Mortgage"
  This Indenture made the 6th day of April One
thousand eight hundred and eighty Three Between
Alexander Goodson and Celia Goodson his wife
both of Alachua County Florida parties of the first
part and H.B. Claflin and Co. doing business
in the City of New York parties of the second
part. Whereas the said Alexander Godson is justly
indebted to the said H.B. Claflin & Co parties of the
second part in the sum of Two Thousand ($2000.00)
Dollars lawful money of the United States of America
with interest to accrue, evidenced by promissory note
of which the following is a copy, towit: 
$2000.00              Palatka Florida April 6th 1883
        On the first Day of January AD 1884 I promise
to pay to H.B. Claflin & Co or order the sum of
Two Thousand dollars ($2000.00) with Interest from date
at the rate of Eight per cent (8%) per annum till this
note is paid   Value received

Now this Indenture Witnesseth That the said parties
of the first part for securing the payment of the said 
moneys mentioned in the said promissory note and
moneys herein mentioned, and in consideration of the
sum of one dollar to them in hand paid by the said
parties of the second part at or before the delivery of
these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted, bargained, sold, released, conveyed and con
firmed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell,
release, convey and confirm unto the said parties of
the second part and their heirs and assigns forever,
All the following described land situate in the County
of Alachua and State of Florida, towit: Lot No Six
(6) in Section Fourteen (14) Tp (9) Nine. South of Range
No Twenty Two (22) East,containing Forty one 10/100 (41 10/100)
Acres. Also Lot No Seven (7) in Section No Fourteen (14)
Tp No (9) Nine South of range No Twenty Two (22) East
containing Thirty nine 2/100 acres (39 2/100). Also Lot No Eight
in Section No Fourteen (14) Tp Nine (9) South of range
No Twenty Two (22) East containing Thirty Nine 80/100 acres
(39 80/100) Also the North Half of the North East quarter (N1/2
of NE1/4) of Section Twenty Three (23) Tp Nine (9) South of
Range twenty two (22) East containing Eighty (80) Acres
Lot Eight (8) being the tract of land upon which the
house, out houses, stables, and barns and orange grove of
said Alexander Goodson are situated--- This Mort
-gage being a second Mortgage on said above described
