singular the hereditaments and appurtenances there
unto belonging or in any wise appertaining. This Con
veyance is intended as a Mortgage to secure the pay
ment of the sum of Two Hundred______Dollars on or
before the Thirtieth day of April AD 1885 with interest
at the rate of 10 per centum per annum. Said interest to
be paid annually to the tenor and effect of note
of even date herewith and these presents shall be null
if such payment be made. But in case default shall
be made in the payment of the principal or interest as
above provided, then the party of the second part, his executors,
administrators, or assigns, are hereby empowered to sell the
premises above described with all and every the appur
tenances, or any part thereof in the manner prescrib
ed by law, and out of the money arising from such sale
to retain the said principal and interest, together with
the costs and charges of making such sale and the
overplus if any there be, shall be paid by the party
making such sale on the demand of the party of the
first part his heirs or assigns. In witness whereof
the said party of the first part has hereunto set his
hand and seal, the day and year first above written

County of Nassau } know all men by these presents that I
Carrie E. Schuyler wife of the above named Robt S. Schuyler
do by these presents made and executed by me separate and
apart from my said husband and in the presence of
J.A. Edwards Clerk of the Circuit Court, acknowledge and declare
that I did make myself a party to and executed the
foregoing Mortgage Deed of Conveyance for the purpose of
relinquishing and renouncing all Dower and right of 
Dower and Homestead in and to the land therein
described and granted and that I did the same freely
and voluntarily, and without any compulsion, constraint
apprehension or fear of or from my said husband the
said Robert S. Schuyler. In Witness Whereof I hereunto
subscribe my name and affix my seal this 30 day of
April AD 1884               Carrie E. Schuyler (seal)
