     January James To L.A. Barnes

Alachua County   } This Indenture made and entered into
on this the fifth Day of May AD 1883 witnesseth that
I, January James in consideration of the sum of seventy
five dollars, already advanced by and now due to L.A. Barnes
by him the said January James the receipt whereof is here
by acknowledged and for further consideration that the said
L.A. Barnes, shall, and will make such further reasonable
amount of advances in provisions, merchandise and plantation
supplies as may be necessary to enable the said January James to make
harvest and prepare for market his crops of all kinds during the
year AD 1883; such further advances not to exceed ten dollars
and for the further consideration of one dollar in hand paid by
these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said L.A.
Barnes and their heirs and assigns all the right title interest
and claim of his the said January James his heirs
executors and administrators of, in and to the crops of
whatsoever species kind or description now growing or which may
hereafter, at any time, or for my benefit, on or off of any and all lands
in Alachua County Florida, until the debt hereby secured,
with interest is fully paid, also the following described property
towit; One bay horse. To have and to hold all and singular
the crops, lands and personal property above bargained and
sold unto the said L.A. Barnes heirs executors, administrators
and assigns forever. Provided nevertheless that if the said
January James shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid
unto the said L.A. Barnes the full amount of the ad
vances heretofore made and hereafter to be made with their
charges for commissions and Interest on the same then this
obligation to be void else to remain of full force and virtue
And it is hereby further agreed that all amounts heretofore and hereafter ad-
vanced are due and payable upon delivery of the goods therefor and
shall bear interest accordingly and that this instrument may be enfor
ced at any time at the option of the said L.A. Barnes and it
is hereby further agreed that should it become necessary to enforce
this instrument by legal proceedings the said January James
will pay therefor all reasonable attorneys fees and charges In
