State of Florida }  Before me personally came Fred
Alachua County   } H. Barnes who being duly sworn
says that he saw January James sign seal and deliver
the foregoing instrument of writing for the use and pur
poses as therein contained and expressed

         R.B. Mott To J.E. Futch
               "Mortgage"
State of Florida }    Know all men by these Presents,
Alachua County   } That whereas I R.B. Mott of the
above State and County is indebted to J.E. Futch of
the same State and County in the sum of Eighty doll
ars which the said sum of money is covenanted to be paid
by his certain promissory note bearing date May 21st 1883,
and for the said sum of Eighty Dollars, bearing interest
at the rate of 10%. Now therefore to the better secure the
payment of said note and interest as expressed Therein
I do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto
the said J.E. Futch his heirs and assigns all my right
title, interest and claim of, in and to crops of whatsoever
species kind or description, now growing, or which may here
after be planted, grown or gathered by me, or for me, or for my
benefit, on or off of any and all lands in Alachua County
Florida Also the following described property towit: One
Cream Mare about Twelve years old named Hannah. To Have
and to hold all and singular The crops lands and personal
property above bargained and sold unto the said J.E. Futch
his heirs executors, administrators and assigns, forever
Provided nevertheless that if the said R.B. Mott should well
and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said J.E. Futch
the full amount of said note, together with the interest according
to its tenor and effect, then this instrument to be void, else to
remain in full force and virtue. And it is hereby further agreed that
should it become necessary to enforce this instrument by legal pro-
ceedings the said R.B. Mott will pay therefor all attorneys fees
and expenses. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and affixed my seal this 21st day of May AD 1883
