State of Florida } Know all men by these presents that I
Alachua County   } John W. Watson of the County of Alachua
and State of Florida for and in consideration of the sum of one
dollar to me in hand paid by Chas W. Bauknight Merchant
of the Town of Archer County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof
I do hereby acknowledge and for the further consideration of
an open account with the said Charles W. Bauknight Merchant
for and untill the first day of November, AD 1883 not to exceed
one hundred and ten dollars, to enable me to make and gather my
crop have this day bargained sold and delivered unto the said
Charles W. Bauknight merchant one sorrel mare blaze face
both hind feet white name Mary Twenty head of cattle more
or less marked crop and upper bit in one ear, staple fork
in the other Branded I & L to have and to hold the said
described unto Chas W. Bauknight merchant as his and the
property of his heirs assigns and administrators in fee sim
ple forever clear of all incumbrances. Provided Nevertheless
the within is considered in the nature of a Mortgage and lien
for the express purpose of securing to Chas W. Bauknight
Merchant the payment of one hundred and Eleven dollars ($11100)
on the first day of November AD 1883 as stated above now if I
shall well and truly pay said amount as specified then this to
be null and void else to remain in full force and virtue
and it is further understood that in default of said pay
ment Chas W. Bauknight Merchant is hereby authorized and
empowered to take possession of said described property also
the general crops made by the advancements referred to in
the within and make sale thereof to satisfy said amount
by virtue and authority of the within and if anything re
maining after said sale then the balance to be returned
to me and for the further security of said payment I do
hereby waive the benefit of the homestead Laws of the
