       George Evins to A.B. Edgell
                    "Mortgage"
State of Florida } This Indenture made and entered into on this 9th day of May 
Alachua County   } AD 1883 Witnesseth that George Evins in consideration of the
sum of Fifty Dollars already advanced by and now due to A.B. Edgell by him the said
Geo Evins the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and for the further consideration
that the said A.B. Edgell shall and will make such further reasonable amount
of advances in provisions merchandise and plantation supplies as
may be necessary to enable the said George Evins to make harvest and
prepare for market his crops of all kinds during the year AD 1883
such further advances not to exceed Twenty five dollars and for the further
consideration of one dollar in hand paid by these presents doth grant
bargain sell and convey unto the said A.B. Edgell and to his heirs and
assigns all the right title interest and claim of him the said George
Evins his heirs executors and administrators of in and to all the crops of
whatsoever species kind or description now growing or which may hereafter at
any time in the future be planted grown or gathered by me or for me or for
my benefit in or off of any and all lands in Alachua County Florida until
the debt hereby secured with interest is fully paid; also the following
described property to wit: Forty acres set apart from the North end of Lot
Two (2) in Section three (3) Township eight (8) South of Range eighteen (18) East Being
a part of a tract of land entered by George Sharp at the US Land office at
Newnansville Fla and sold under an execution in favor of O. Buddington and
purchased at said sale by S.F. Halliday. To Have and to Hold all and singular
the crops lands and personal property above bargained and sold unto the said
A.B. Edgell his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever. Provided
nevertheless that if the said George Evins should well and truly pay or cause
to be paid unto the said A.B. Edgell the full amount of the advances heretofore
made and hereafter to be made with charges for commissions and interest on the
same then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue
And it is further agreed that all amounts heretofore and hereafter advanced are
due and payable upon delivery of the goods therefor and shall bear interest
accordingly and that this instrument may be enforced at any time at the
option of the said A.B. Edgell. And it is hereby further agreed that should it become
necessary to enforce this instrument by legal proceedings the said George Evins will
pay thereof all attorneys fees charges and expenses. In Witness Whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 9th day of May AD 1883
