D.H. Merchant To A.B. Edgell

Alachua County   } This Indenture made and entered into on
this 22nd day of March AD 1883 Witnesseth that D.H.
Merchant in consideration of the sum of One Hundred dollars
already advanced by and now due to A.B. Edgell by him the said
D.H Merchant the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and for
the further consideration that the said A.B. Edgell shall and will
make such further reasonable amount of advances in provisions
merchandise and plantation supplies as may be necessary to enable
the said D.H. Merchant to make harvest and prepare for harvest
His crops of all kinds during the year AD 1883 such further
advances not to exceed Fifty dollars and for the further consider
ation of one dollar in hand paid by these presents doth grant bargain
sell and convey unto the said A.B. Edgell and to his heirs and
assigns all the right, title, interest and claim of Him the said
D.H. Merchant his heirs executors and administrators of and in
and to all the crops of whatsoever species kind or description now
growing or which may hereafter at any time in the future be planted
grown or gathered by me or for me or for my benefit in or off of
any and all lands in Alachua County Florida until the debt
hereby secured, with interest is fully paid also the following described
property to wit: One Black horse with gray legs and white
star in forehead called Charley about Fourteen years old also

one light bay Mare known as the Rivere Mare Heavy^Mane and
spot in Forehead about Ten years old. To have and to hold all
and singular the crops lands and personal property above bar
gained and sold unto the said A.B. Edgell his heirs executors
administrators and assigns forever. Provided nevertheless that
if the said D.H. Merchant should well and truly pay or cause to be
paid unto the said A.B. Edgell the full amount of the advances
heretofore made with the charges for commissions and interest on
the same then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full
force and virtue And it is further agreed that all amounts here
tofore and hereafter advanced, are due and payable upon delivery of
the goods therefor and shall bear interest accordingly and that this
instrument may be enforced at any time at the option of the said
A.B. Edgell And it is hereby further agreed that should it become
necessary to enforce this instrument by legal proceedings the said
D.H. Merchant will pay therefor all attorneys fees, charges and
expenses In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this 22nd day of March AD 1883
