Alachua County   } Before me personally came Geo L. LaDuke who
being duly sworn says that he saw D.H. Merchant sign seal and
deliver the foregoing instrument of writing for the uses and pur-
poses as therein contained and expressed

             William Wideman To A.B. Edgell
                       "Mortgage"
State of Florida } This Indenture made and entered into on this
Alachua County   } 24th day of March AD 1883 Witnesseth that William Wideman
in consideration of the sum of Forty dollars already advanced by and now due to
A.B. Edgell by him the said William Wideman the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged and for the further consideration that the said A.B.
Edgell shall and will make such further reasonable amount of ad
vances in provisions merchandise and plantation supplies as may
be necessary to enable the said William Wideman to make harvest
and prepare for market His crops of all kinds during the year AD
1883 such further advances not to exceed ___ dollars and for the
further consideration of one dollar in hand paid by these presents
doth grant bargain sell convey unto the said A.B. Edgell
and to his heirs and assigns all the right title, interest and claim
of Him the said William Wideman his heirs executors and ad
ministrators of in and to all the crops of whatsoever species
kind or description now growing or which may hereafter at
any time in the future be planted grown or gathered by me
or for me or for my benefit on or off of any and all lands
in Alachua County Florida until the debt hereby secured
with interest is fully paid also the following described
property to wit: One bay mare mule named Polly age 13 years
one bay mare mule named Beck age 8 years old. To have
and to hold all and singular the crops lands and personal prop
erty above bargained and sold unto the said A.B. Edgell his
heirs executors administrators and assigns forever. Provided
nevertheless that if the said Wm Wideman should well and truly
pay or cause to be paid unto the said A.B. Edgell the
full amount of the advances heretofore made and hereafter
to be made with the charges for commissions and interest
on the same then this obligation to be void else to remain
in full force and virtue. And it is hereby further agreed
that all the amounts heretofore and hereafter advanced are
due and payable upon delivery of the goods therefor
