Nancy J. Quarles To Annie E. Bates
              "Mortgage" 
This Indenture made the 22nd day of February
AD 1883 between Nancy J. Quarles of Alachua County
and State of Florida and her husband James M.
Quarles parties of the first part and Annie E. Bates of
the said County and State party of the second part wit-
nesseth that the said party of the first part in Consid-
eration of the Sum of Seven hundred dollars to them
duly paid before the delivery hereof have bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant and Convey
to the said party of the second part and her heirs
and assigns forever all those lots or parcels of land
lying and being in the town of Hawthorn Alachua
County and State of Florida to wit: Beginning Six
Chains and Eighty Six links (6.86) West from the
North East Corner of the South West Quarter (1/4) of
the North West Quarter (1/4) of Section Twenty Six (26)
Township Ten (10) South of Range twenty Two (22) East and at
the West side of Benjamin Street: thence West three
Chains and thirty Seven links (3.37): thence South 24º 30'
East three Chains and Eighty four links (3.84): thence
North 69º 30' East three Chains and sixteen links (3.16):
thence North 24º30' West two Chains and fifty (2.50
links back to place of beginning including lots
one(1) and Two (2) in Block two (2) and the South
West Corner of lot six (6) in Block Nine (9) fronting
on Reed Street thirty feet (30) and forty feet and
(40) with the appurtenances and all the estate right

        Assignment of Mortgage Deed
Know all men by these presents that I Annie E. Bates & George F. Bates her husband for
value received have sold and by these presents have granted assigned and transferred to Capt
Lewis Davis his executors administrators and assigns and for his and their use the said mortgage
which is given and executed by Nancy J. Quarles to Annie E. Bates and bearing date the 22nd day
of February AD 1883 to secure the payment of the sum of seven hundred dollars principal
with lawful interest after date of maturity of note In witness whereof the said Annie
E. Bates and George F. Bates her husband has hereunto set their hands and seal this Twenty fifth

   above and that he signed his name as witness to said instrument
   at the request of said Annie E. Bates and Geo F. Bates
