This Indenture made the 23rd day of May AD 1883
between Mattie F. Knox and Wm M. Knox of the first
part and John J. Barr of the second part all
parties being of the State of Florida & County of Alachua
Witnesseth-- That the parties of the first part in
Consideration of the sum of thirteen hundred & fifty
($135000} Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt
of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained
and sold and by these presents does grant and
Convey to the party of the second part and his heirs
& assigns forever, all that lot in the Town of Micanopy
State of Florida & County of Alachua situated East of
the residence of the parties of the first part West
of the Lot known as the Means Lot now owned by
Wm Edwards North of Street leading from Public
Square via Knox Hotel - South of Street running
via Jno Simontons to Barnetts. Also Lot is known
as the "Fairbanks Lot" and fully described in
deed from Fairbanks to Mattie F. Knox -- with the
appurtenances and all the estate right title and interest
of the said party of the first part therein This
Grant is intended as a Security for the payment of
a note of thirteen hundred & fifty $135000 given

Mortgage is hereby acknowledged and the same discharged from
