       Eugene Allen To Thomas E. Stribling
                      "Mortgage"
 This Indenture made the thirteenth day of Aug
ust in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty three between Eugene
Allen of the City of Jacksonville County of Duval
and State of Florida party of the first part and
Thomas E. Stribling of the same City County
and State of the second part whereas the said
Eugene Allen justly indebted to the said Thomas
E. Stribling of the second part in the sum of One
hundred and Fifty Dollars lawful money of
the United States of America as evidenced by
his certain promissory note in the words and
figures as follows     Jacksonville Fla Aug 13, 1883
$15000 Eight months after date I promise to pay
to the order of Thomas E. Stribling One hundred
and fifty Dollars with interest at the rate
of Twelve per cent pr annum value received
Signed Eugene Allen   Now this indenture wit-
nesseth that the said of the first part for the
better securing the payment of the said sum of
money mentioned in said promissory note with
the interest to accrue thereon and also for and
in consideration of the sum of One dollars to
him in hand paid by the said party of the
second part at or before the ensealing and de
livery of these presents the receipt whereof is
